Week 4

This week was SO much fun! I loved loved loved adding widgets to our blogs. So cool! I feel so tech savy now :) I also loved the Skype talk with Ira Socol. It really made me think about children with learning disabilities, and how they are often judged, and it is so sad. We recently ordered his book, and I am excited to read it. I am sure I will learn a lot from it. I loved the Skype chat, and I think it would be fun to have others.

  2. I just finished reading Ira's book. It is really raw. The differences between the character's upbringing and mine are vastly different. I told Ira I won't ever be able to truly understand his motivations because of these differences.

What about universal design and assistive technologies? So much of what last week covered, the text to speech, dictation software, etc. would be wonderful in a kindergarten room. Things that you would naturally do that are easily assisted by the technology we already have in schools. How could you use them with your students?

  3. Hello Katy,
I commented on your "Third Week" post as well. I haven't really worked with widgets much, but I am excited to learn about them! As for Skype, I use it all the time! I am from Mobile, Alabama and most of my friends went off to school somewhere while I stayed home. I use Skype to keep in touch with my friends as well as my boyfriend who lives in Pensacola, Florida. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts!
